Words From the Chair

The University of Miami Indian Students Association is proud to host the 19th annual South Asian Students' Alliance (S.A.S.A.) conference from January 4th - January 8th 2007. The conference is attended by over 3,000 South Asian Americans in a four-day extravaganza promoting culture, heritage, and camaraderie through engaging events. S.A.S.A. 2007 will climb to new heights this year to accomplish its mission of spreading awareness and creating activism to facilitate the development of pride, confidence and respect for our South Asian culture. And as exciting as the city of Miami is, there has never been a S.A.S.A. conference held on its shores. This will ensure your experience to be truly unique from any other S.A.S.A. conference to date.

Every S.A.S.A. conference is an opportunity to meet up with your fellow South Asians and exchange ideas and information. Everyone comes home from a S.A.S.A. conference feeling a little more enriched. We will have a number of informative sessions that will provide you with skills that can accompany you on the next leg of life's journey. In the past, S.A.S.A. has presented prominent speakers such as CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta and the CEO of Pepsi, Indra Nooyi. S.A.S.A. 2007 Miami plans to not only add to the list of influential speakers, but also assemble many sessions that are both exhilarating and worthwhile. In addition to the interesting sessions, we will have a number of entertaining programs, including the illustrious Cultural Show. The show will comprise of a wide variety of skill and talent from schools all over the nation, including performances by famous entertainers. The show culminates by awarding the winners $5,000 in cash and prizes! We highly encourage every school to apply. Make sure to send in your application today!
